Medical Nutrition Physiology Group focuses on the effects of nutritional factors and the modulation of intestinal microbiota on health. The research group's main interest is on intestinal physiology, but we also have a long history of examining the possibilities for nutritional prevention and treatment of blood pressure and impaired vascular function. The group uses both in vitro and animal models and has a long experience in clinical trials. We work mainly with gastrointestinal research models and have established and validated methods for intestinal cell cultures, epithelial barrier integrity and intestinal inflammation models as well as organ bath chambers for vascular reactivity studies.
