Science and nature trails

The station premises include one science and one nature trail.
Nature trail

The Nature trail traverses the forests of Lammi Biological Station and the shores of Lake Pääjärvi. There are signs along the path that describe the local nature. The deciduous forest is home to hazels, as well as a large number of dead trees boosting the biodiversity of the forest. The forest is a habitat for Ural, Eurasian pygmy, and tawny owls, and is also occasionally visited by lynxes and Siberian flying squirrels.

Science trail

Along the science trail are 14 signs describing research conducted at the University of Helsinki and carried out by our partners. The route also presents tasks where data on forest phenology are collected, and a toolbox for aquatic research, which enables visitors to use some of the tools employed by limnologists in their work. The science trail was created with funding from the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation and the Maj and Tor Nessling Foundation.
