I moved from the University of Cambridge (UK) to join the University of Helsinki in 2017 as a tenure-track professor in behavioural ecology (recently promoted to Associate level). My research group combines approaches from field biology to genomics. We investigate how individuals learn from each other, and how this affects their evolution and resilience to environmental change. We mainly study wild birds in their natural environments, with field work spanning the globe: from Finland, across Europe and to New Zealand. This is made possible by long-term collaborations with researchers and conservation groups, especially the Hihi Conservation Trust in New Zealand.
