WHAT IS A STEM CELL?

A stem cell is a cell that by dividing can produce more stem cells and differentiate into other cell types. Stem cells are responsible for the development from the embryonic stage to adulthood. Adult tissues are also renewed by stem cells, which produce new cells to replace the old.

THERE ARE MANY TYPES OF STEM CELLS

Stem cells are classified into different types depending on their origin and plasticity, or their capability to change. Read more about different types of stem cells
