ILS-135 Practical course in Electron Microscopy


The course consists of lectures, practical laboratory work, individual microscopy sessions, written assignments and oral presentation. The course will cover negative staining method, conventional specimen preparation for TEM and SEM and several immuno electron microscopy methods at theoretical and practical level. The course gives students skills to choose suitable EM techniques for their own project, to learn appropriate and safe working methods and to critically evaluate EM work that are presented in published papers and seminars.  By the end of the course, the students are able to operate transmission electron microscope independently and analyze the images they have produced. 

 After 21.-28.4. the course continues with 3-4 individual microscopy sessions (á 2.5 h) and half a day round-up of the course
