Electron Microscopy Unit (EMBI) is a core facility that provides services for biological electron microscopy. We belong to the Cell and Tissue Dynamics Research Program at the Institute of Biotechnology, and Helsinki BioImaging (HBI) research infrastructure platform of the Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HiLIFE).
We are also part of Biocenter Finland Biological imaging network, and provide nationwide technology services on advanced electron microscopy techniques. We belong to Euro-BioImaging Advanced Light Microcopy Finnish Node.
Due to corona outbreak, EMBI functions with limited capacity. Sample preparation services can be requested by sending e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Microscopes can be reserved via OpenIris electronic reservation system. Please note the following practices to safe use of our facility:
Only one person / microscope room is recommended. We can give short troubleshooting sessions, solve acute technical problems, and train new users only, when at least level ffp2 filtering face masks are in use. Use of face masks is expected from everyone visiting the facility.
Break room is reserved for EMBI staff only.
Everyone must be mindful of good hand hygiene by carefully washing their hands or, if that is impossible, using hand sanitiser.
EMBI staff cleans equipment in shared use before and after use.
