Plan your stay at Helsinki!
All the panels, roundtables and keynotes will take place at Metsätalo in Unioninkatu 40. Registration desk and a locker room for small bags are on the 1st (ground) floor. Please register at the desk when arriving to Metsätalo for the first time. We recommend registering during the registration periods (at 8:30‒9:00 on each morning), but the desk will be open the whole day.
Welcome session, keynotes and the general assembly of the NSMES will take place in the big lecture hall on the ground floor. Other sessions are on the second floor (rooms 2 and 3), the third floor (rooms 7,8, 11 and 12), the fourth floor (room 22) and on the fifth floor (room 25). All rooms are equipped with a computer and data projector.
In each floor, conference assistants will help with the technology and other difficulties. You can ask help from anyone carrying a pink “ask me” tag.

Chairs of the panels have been instructed to contact the panellists. Panels can decide themselves how much time to reserve for questions and in which format the presentations should be. Each panel will have 90 minutes and the chair is responsible for dividing the time between presenters. The times in the schedule are starting times for the panels – please be early.
Please bring your powerpoints etc. on a USB stick and use the computer in the lecture room. Using own computers with the university data projectors is not recommended.

Music and Poetry from the Middle East, 15.8. at 20.30‒24.00 at Koko Jazz Club (Hämeentie 3), poetry by Muhaned Durubi and music by Meera Band. This is the official evening program on Thursday, but the club is also open for audience, so we recommend arriving between 20.30 and 21.00 to avoid the queue. Please note: the cloak room at the club is unattended. Event is organized by the Finnish Anna Lindh Network.

After the reception of the City of Helsinki at the City Hall, the tram 7 is one of the possible public transportation options to move to Koko Club (see the map). The ticket must be purchased from a ticket machine before entering the tram or by a smart phone. Tickets are not sold in trams. Another option is to take a metro from the central railway station or from the university metro station to Hakaniemi.
Public discussion event: The future of Iraq: Will it Rise or Fall?, 14.8. at 13.00‒15.00 in Yliopistonkatu 4 (Tiedekulma).
