Special issue of Northern literature in the magazine Ajan kohina #15

The project Northern Neighbours produced the issue #15 (theme: Northern literature) of the magazine Ajan kohina, which came out on 24 June, 2021.

The special issue of Northern Literature takes a look at various depictions of the North in Russian literature. The focus is above all on Northern nature with its birds, reindeer and the people who inhabit and shape the Arctic. The text interestingly show in how many different ways the Northern nature has been treated in Russia over time. Social changes have also reflected in literature and descriptions of the North in fiction.

The magazine also contains previously unpublished translations to Finnish: poetry of Nadezhda Bulatova, nature poems by Askold Bazhanov, and an excerpt from Anna Nerkagi's novella Aniko iz Roda Nogo ("Aniko of the Nogo Family", 1976).
