Nitinder Mohan from Collaborative Networking (CoNe) research group defended his doctoral thesis Edge Computing Platforms and Protocols on Friday the 8th of November 2019 at the University of Helsinki. His opponent was Professor Abhishek Chandra from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, USA and Custos was Professor Jussi Kangasharju from the University of Helsinki. This thesis provided a comprehensive collection of novel protocols and platforms for integrating edge computing in the existing cloud infrastructure. It further addressed several open problems for three core categories of edge computing: hardware, infrastructure and platform and presented presents a virtualization-dependent platform for application owners to transparently utilize the underlying distributed infrastructure of edge clouds. Congratulations to Nitinder for his successful defense.
