I am delighted to inform you that our students arrive from all over the world, and you can be rest assured, we will take very good care of you!

We are in the process of planning the next academic year to make your future rewarding with new knowledge and experience. Most of our courses take place in person in classrooms, but we offer some online and hybrid courses too.

From the start of your studies, you will be supported by student tutors, and as a student you will be guided by your individual Personal Study Plan adviser. Everyone in ICE is eagerly looking forward to meeting you face-to-face.

The Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Theology are located in the very centre of Helsinki, with excellent transport connections from every part of the city. The classes take place in the central campus, close to the University Library, Unisport, Unicafes and other vital services.

Preparing for your studies

In the autumn semester, the first-year students typically take three compulsory courses:

  • Intercultural Encounters: Interdisciplinarity and Concepts
  • Intercultural Communication
  • Methodology I

We are progressing fast in planning our teaching programme for the academic year 2024-2025. The preliminary teaching programme will be published on the Studies Service by the end of March. Please select Master’s Programme in Intercultural Encounters from top of the page and scroll down to the end of the page to find the preliminary teaching programme.

Orientation and tutoring

The teaching of the academic year 2024-2025 officially starts on 2 September 2024. Before courses begin, you should take part in the orientation activities for the new students that take place on campus the week before (during week 35 starting as of 26 August).

You will be assigned your ICE student tutors. They will help you with questions related to studying in our programme, give support with administrative matters, and introduce you to the university campuses and facilities. This will make it easier for you to start your studies and life in Helsinki.

Detailed information and schedule concerning your orientation and tutoring will be published in the Instructions for students in the summer. Make sure that the ICE programme is selected in the dropdown menu to access the correct information.
