Open position in FinPharma: Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor in Regenerative Pharmacology

The Faculty of Pharmacy invites applications for the position of an Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor in Regenerative Pharmacology. Deadline for applications is 1 March 2020.

The field of the position is regenerative pharmacology. Regenerative pharmacology is a rapidly evolving multidisciplinary and translational research area. The central goal is to develop potentially curative drugs for degenerative diseases with unmet medical needs such as, but not limited to, heart failure and neurodegenerative diseases. Application of pharmacological sciences is in focus to accelerate, optimize and characterize the development, maturation and function of bioengineered cells and regenerating tissues. Regenerative pharmacology possesses enormous possibilities for its robust clinical application of drugs stimulating the body to heal itself with its own tissue regenerative pathways.

In addition to scientific research, the appointee is responsible for undergraduate (bachelor and master in pharmacy) and postgraduate level education. The teaching has its main focus on pharmacology including those underlying therapeutic drug actions and adverse drug reactions. The University of Helsinki has created, with the University of Eastern Finland and Åbo Akademi University, FinPharma, a new Finnish Platform for Pharmaceutical Research. FinPharma will renew the pharmaceutical drug research through the novel research areas across the boundaries of traditional pharmaceutical disciplines and nurturing of national and international collaboration.
