Science Labs

We arrange for student groups from various learning communities opportunities to visit the University and see how research and learning in various disciplines take place.

The 'Science Labs' of the university work as inspirational and authentic learning environments for children and young people. The science labs enable many activities which are unfeasible in typical kindergartens, comprehensive schools and upper-secondary schools. Meetings with researchers can be arranged to coincide with the visits, as well as introductions to the latest top research.

The University charges no fee for such visits. Visits may be available in English, if resources allow.

(Science labs also serve as an inspirational and authentic learning environment as part of the initial teacher training and / or in-service training of the teachers and as the environments for the collaborational research, development and  interaction between national and international actors.)

You can arrange a visit to one of our Science Labs using the booking calendar (currently only available in Finnish) or by contacting

The University of Helsinki has not insured visiting students and pupils from other educational institutions.
