Our team, led by Emmy Verschuren, studies the biological properties of lung cancer drivers in their complex environment, and integrates this knowledge to design diagnostic lung cancer models. We focus on how histopathology and functional heterogeneity relate to therapeutic response. In collaboration with pulmonary clinicians, we identify treatments tailored to the unique tumour tissues of patients seen in the local hospital. Our long-term aim is to develop new strategies for the intervention and prevention of lung cancer.
