4th Annual Lecture on International and Maritime Law

The INTERTRAN Research Group for Sustainable Law and Business in collaboration with the Finnish Maritime Law Association (CMI) would like to invite you to the 4th Annual Lecture on International and Maritime Law.

  • Time: 4 - 6 PM Finnish time (UTC +2)
  • The lecture will be organized in a hybrid format. It is possible to attend either in person at the University of Helsinki, Faculty of Law (Porthania), as well as online. This year’s lecture will be given by Prof. Lia I. Athanassiou (Professor of Commercial Law, University of Athens) on the topic of:

'Legal implications of Covid 19 on international shipping'

The lecture will focus in particular on the implementation of the Maritime Labour Convention and the execution of charterparties and maritime transport contracts.

Ulla von Weissenberg (Partner, Procopé & Hornborg Attorneys Ltd) will act as a commentator and lead a short discussion after the lecture.

Following the event there will be a small reception in Porthania.

Prof. Lia I Athanassiou

LLB (Athens Law School), LLM (Aix-Marseille III), LLM (Paris II), Ph.D. (Univ. Paris I-Panthéon-Sorbonne)

Lia I. Athanassiou is a Professor of Commercial & Maritime Law with senior full-time tenure at the Law School of the University of Athens, teaching mainly Shipping Law, Company Law and Competition Law. She is also the Director of the Post Graduate Program on Business Law and head of the LL.M. in Maritime Law at the University.
