The research work conducted in Professor Miia Lindström's research group focuses on molecular biology, ecology, epidemiology, and evolution of food-borne pathogenic bacteria with specific interests in:

  •     Diagnostics, epidemiology, food safety aspects, and biology of Clostridium botulinum
  •     Genomics and adaptation of Listeria monocytogenes and Bacillus cereus in the dairy chain
  •     Molecular epidemiology of enterotoxigenic Clostridium perfringens

Professor Lindström has received a europa.eu/funding/consolidator-grants">European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant and a research funding from the Academy of Finland (Academy Research Project). These two projects are now complementing other ongoing research activities and benefit from existing partnerships with various international laboratories and research cooperation networks.
