About

RADAR is an interdisciplinary group of researchers interested in philosophy of technology, in particular, the conceptual and ethical aspects of artificial intelligence, social robotics, and human-machine interaction.

It was established in the disciplince of practical philosophy in University of Helsinki in 2019.

Currently we are doing philosophical research on AI ethics and robophilosophy (that is, philosophy of, for, and by social robotics), and we are also involved in development of methods and software for AI and social robotics applications. We give courses on topics related to philosophy of technology, and our members also do consulting for both public sector and private companies on issues related to ethics of artificial intelligence.

We are located in Metsätalo (Unioninkatu 40A), and from September 2021 you can find us in the 5th floor B-wing office B509.

We participated in the development of the UnaEuropa MOOC "AI in Society" (https://www.una-europa.eu/study/mooc-ai-society).

We organized the Robophilosophy 2022 conference in Helsinki, August 16-19, 2022. See rp2022.org.
