Thus, we are ultimately interested in evaluating the feelings of animals. One way of studying this is to assess the biological price the animal has to pay for adapting to its´ surroundings and management.
The experiences of individual animals are estimated by combining physiological measures and health recordings to methods of applied animal behaviour science (applied ethology). Animal welfare and behaviour studies are performed both in laboratory conditions and as field studies: on-farm or in the homes of animals and their owners.
ISAE is a scientific society for researchers studying the behaviour of animals under human influence. ISAE organizes an international scientific congress yearly, and additionally many of the regions have their own regular meetings. The Nordic ISAE region meets every second year. The next meeting will be in 2020.
ISAE warmly welcomes member applications for anyone with an academic background and interest in science, and currently working within applied ethology, or a related field.
