Professor of psychological development and wellbeing

Professor Elovainio has a special interest in social epidemiology, occupational health psychology and research on the risk factors of depression, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and inter-generational transmission of health and wellbeing.

He is leading the Social ties and health and PSYSO NETWORK studies and the coordinator of the Health Professionals follow up study and co-coordinator of the Finnish Adoption (FInAdo) study and Young Finns –psychology –study.

Laura Pulkki-Råback, PhD, University Lecturer

Lecturer of psychological development and wellbeing

Doctor Pulkki-Råback has a special interest in life-course epidemiology, socioeconomic differences in health, and development of lifestyle-related disorders. She has over 130 peer-reviewed publications and several academic appointments.

She is co-leader of the Psychosocial Factors Sector in the Young Finns Study. This is a cohort study following up 3,596 Finnish individuals from childhood to adulthood, with a focus on the development of cardiometabolic health factors over the lifespan.

She is leader of the Psychosocial Factors Sector in the Special Turku Intervention Study, which is an randomized-controlled intervention examining how an early-initiated lifestyle intervention affects cardio-metabolic risks over the lifespan.
