X-ray crystallography

Since we study protein functions on an atomic level, x-ray crystallography is a useful tool to study the 3D positions of atoms in the protein.

However, x-ray crystallography has its challenges, for proteins with prevalent disordered regions complicate crystallization.

In our lab, x-ray crystallography is utilized to analyze three-dimensional crystal structures of Inteins, such as mini-inteins that can be found in extremophiles.
