The Polar and Arctic Atmospheric Research (PANDA) is a sub-group of the Institute of Atmospheric and Earth System Research, at the University of Helsinki (www.helsinki.fi/en/inar). The group is distributed between Helsinki and Värriö subarctic research station, Salla, Lapland.
Our group is trying to understand the interactions of biosphere, cryosphere and atmosphere. We focus especially on biogenic emissions, atmospheric chemistry and secondary aerosol formation and aerosol - cloud interactions in the northern boreal, Arctic and Antarctic polar atmospheres. We are also part of the Finnish Academy Centre of Excellence "Virtual Laboratory for Molecular Level Atmospheric Transformations" (VILMA) and the Finnish Flagship "Atmosphere and Climate Competence Center (ACCC)" (https://www.acccflagship.fi). We also operate the Värriö subarctic research station (https://www2.helsinki.fi/en/research-stations/varrio-subarctic-research-station)
