In this Business Finland funded (TUTL) project of 3 research organizations (UH, VTT, LUT) we developed a simple, portable droplet generation chips that can be operated by manual pressure or integrated micropumps. We tested them in single cell analytics and digital PCR applications, and developed a roll-to-roll mass fabrication method for them. Portability and ease of use will enable the development of unique point of care diagnostics coupled with the high sensitivity and absolute target counting of digital PCR. We are currently testing it also as a rapid SARS-CoV-2 test platform. DropPen was recently also in University news. The summary report of the TUTL project can be read here.
