Päivi Saavalainen's group studies autoimmune diseases and chronic gastrointestinal inflammations, namely celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease. We apply genomics and transcriptomics tools to explore the genetics and immunopathogenesis of these diseases, with a special focus on T cell clonality and phenotyping with single cell RNAseq methods.
