HUS Musculoskeletal and Plastic Surgery

HUS Musculoskeletal and Plastic Surgery is a Department at Helsinki University Hospital. Our goal is to promote and perform high-quality basic and clinical research in orthopedic and traumatology, hand surgery, and plastic surgery. We, therefore, welcome all kind of academic collaboration with students, researchers and companies.

HUS - Musculoskeletal and plastic surgery offers services in the specialties of orthopedics and traumatology, hand surgery, and plastic surgery. More than 53,000 patients, including the most demanding trauma surgery patients in the entire HUS area and patients due to national treatment responsibility, are examined and treated annually at the Töölö-, Jorvi-, Peijas- and Herttoniemi hospitals. The research field of the Musculoskeletal and Plastic Surgery unit is broad, involving both basic and clinical research e.g. large prospective randomized clinical trials in orthopedics, plastic- and hand surgery, biomaterials for bone and skin repair, reconstructive surgery, bone tumors, multi-trauma, spinal surgery as well as cleft lip and palate reconstruction research projects.
