DigIT (Digital Learning and Work) is a multidisciplinary research group at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Helsinki. It has started at the end of 2017. The group makes research on changes of work and learning where technology and digitization are centrally involved. Digital tools and novel digital objects are connected to transformations of work which require development of new practices and ways of organizing work, and reconciling them to existing practices.
Theoretically and methodologically the DigIT research group concentrates on changes of work and learning by drawing on different practice-based methodologies; especially on activity theory and pragmatism. We are interested in approaches where different kinds of tools and artefacts support human activities. Qualitative methods are stressed in relation to practice-based methodologies.
We are affiliated to the CRADLE research community and the LECI expert group at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Helsinki.
