During the master’s thesis project, the student will learn scientific thinking, theory, skills for data acquisition, analysis, and statistics, as well as scientific writing skills. Almost all Master’s projects have so far resulted in an international publication with the student as one of the authors. We think this is a fair and motivating deal both for the student and the supervisor. This also provides an opportunity to include the publication in the doctoral degree if the student wishes to continue to post-graduate studies, giving the studies a jump start. The high quality of the master’s theses supervised at CBRU is reflected in the high grades as well as in the awards granted for these theses. CBRU also organizes courses and the researchers supervise the laboratory practice, teach in the "EEG praktikum" course, give visiting lectures, organize book examinations, and supervise candidate's theses. Courses such as Neuroscience of music, Integrative Neuroscience, Hands-on course on MEG, and Hands-on course on TMS have been organized. CBRU has also been the coordinating unit of the international Master's program Tempus. Erasmus students also visit us regularly.
All teaching is tightly integrated with research. In the MEG hands-on course, for instance, each post-graduate student takes part in the data recording and analysis under expert supervision. The data collected in this course is utilized for a publication in an international refereed journal, in which the students are co-authors. Thus, the teaching and research form a symbiotic interplay, which is motivating for both the student and the supervisor as well as a guarantee of high quality.
