Cellulose Chemistry

HOW CAN WE TUNE THE SURFACE OF CELLULOSE THROUGH SIMPLE CHEMISTRY?

The Cellulose Chemistry research group, lead by Dr. Alistair King, concerns the development of techniques for tuning the reactivity of bulk cellulose and at the surface, with applications in textiles, materials and biomedical applications, among others. From a strong fundamental understanding of cellulose and wood structure, to the long experience gained through development of ionic liquids for cellulose processing, we have the tools for advanced characterisation and manipulation of crystalline celluloses into novel forms.
