Biodiversity and ecosystem services

We aim to advance understanding of the interplay between biodiversity and agricultural production: how agriculture affects functional biodiversity, and how it is dependent on biodiversity-mediated ecosystem services.

Our current projects mostly focus on pollinators and pollination services. We are interested in how land use and farming methods affect pollinators, and how different pollinators contribute to crop pollination in boreal farmland. We use landscape ecological experiments and manipulative experiments, often working with farmers on their land.
