Here you will find information about accommodation, dining, sauna, payments.

The main building includes the TZS office, lecture rooms, research laboratories, aquarium rooms, a workshop, offices for scientists and staff members, and a canteen for 70 people. For accommodation, the station offers 20 twin bedrooms in the student dormitory, 10 twin bedrooms in the scientists’ dormitory and 10-30 additional beds in other houses, some of which are only used in the summer. A few larger flats are available for scientists who are accompanied by their families.


The office/reception is located in the main building and handles all matters concerning board and lodging at the station. The opening hours are 9:00 - 15:00 on weekdays.


Please notify the office of all dining needs at least two days in advance, including information on special dietary requirements (vegetarian, allergies etc.). The kitchen is open Mondays to Fridays: breakfast 8 – 9, lunch 12 – 13 and dinner 17 – 18 (not every day). During the weekend, the kitchen is generally closed, except during large courses or seminars. Check with the office which meals are served during your stay. In each dormitory there is also a small kitchen equipped with basic kitchen ware.


Accommodation and dining costs can be paid in the office (cash or card). For more information about payments please contact the office.


The sauna is heated on Wednesdays (gentlemen 18-20, ladies 20-22) and Saturdays (ladies 18-20, gentlemen 20-22). On other days, the sauna can be booked separately.


Note that TZS is relatively remote and the nearest shops, post office, restaurants etc. are located in Hanko (17 km).

Please also note that the area around TZS is protected as a nature conservation area.
