Adjunct professor Esko Kankuri MD PhD is the coordinating senior researcher for the IHD-EPITRAN study. He works at the University of Helsinki, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology.



Professor Eero Mervaala MD PhD works at the University of Helsinki, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology. His field of expertise is cardiovascular and metabolic pharmacology and drug development. Currently Eero Mervaala is acting as the Director of Medicum, Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki.


Vilbert Sikorski MD works at the University of Helsinki, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology as a PhD student and the coordinator of the IHD-EPITRAN study. With special focus on ischemic heart disease, his principal scientific interests center on deepening and promoting the understanding of epitranscriptomic mechanisms in not only basic, but also translational and clinical cardiovascular medicine.


Juhani Stewart MD is a cardiologist, anaesthetist and a doctoral student with special interest in statistics. Currently employed in the Department of Cardiology, Heart and Lung Centre, Helsinki University Hospital.


Professor Nurcan Tunçbağ works at the Graduate School of Informatics, Department of Health Informatics, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. Her field of expertise is computational models of complex biological systems.
