The school institution in between the private and the public

The subproject considers the school as an institution that situates between the private and public societal spheres.

The aim of the project is to produce an ethically and politically justified view of the school institution that provides a more accurate framework for analysing the justice of public aims of education, such as democracy education, specifically in relation with social and cultural minorities. In a unique manner, the project combines theories of social philosophy, feminist political philosophy, and social ontology.

Tarna Kannisto is primarily responsible for the research in this subproject. See Tarna's bio and researcher profile here.
