TRAINEE for the UniPID Network
UniPID (www.unipid.fi) is a network of Finnish universities to strengthen the integration of global responsibility and Global South perspectives in universities’ interdisciplinary education, research, and societal impact activities. UniPID also promotes universities’ international partnerships in support of sustainable development pathways.
UniPID coordinates a multidisciplinary Virtual Studies programme in global sustainable development, offering annually some 15 courses open for member universities’ students. UniPID coordinates support for Finnish development research doctoral training and participates in a number of externally funded projects to support the Finnish research community in their partnerships with counterparts in the Global South. In addition, UniPID maintains active policy dialogue to advance universities’ global responsibility and cooperation, and to foster their role in development cooperation and in support of the 2030 Agenda.
Description of Internship & Tasks
Your main tasks are to support the administration and implementation of a variety of above-mentioned UniPID’s core activities. The exact tasks will be defined closer to date, but they can include the following type of tasks:
• Communication: designing communication actions around UniPID activities and outputs
• Study administration: assisting in the evaluation of student and teacher feedback from UniPID’s virtual studies programme.
• Grant administration: assisting in the evaluation and administration of a variety of support grants to the research community.
• Virtual event organization: supporting the planning and organization of virtual events and meetings, including participant registration and management, technical support, and reporting.
• Project administration: contributing to project coordination, reporting, planning, and day-to-day project tasks.
We expect you to have a willingness to learn, interest in the nexus of higher education, science, and global development, and fluent communication skills in English. No knowledge of Finnish is required.
UniPID is coordinated by the University of Helsinki, and the position of the intern will be located in the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry. In case the exceptional conditions by COVID-19 pandemic continue, the internship can be organized also remotely. The internship can take place during the months of September-December 2021.
The duration of a traineeship is 1 September to 31 December 2021 (four months) of part-time (50%) work, leaving time for studies as well. The salary of a trainee is €700 per month for a part-time (50%) trainee.
