About us

HOH Helsinki One Health is a network organisation established to coordinate research activities in One Health, a strategic profiling research area of University of Helsinki.

One Health stands for an integrative and systemic approach to health, based on the understanding that animal, human, and environmental health are closely linked (see definitions by FAO, OIE, WHO and UNEP, and CDC). HOH Helsinki One Health encourages various disciplines and professions to work together to resolve emerging health problems concerning animal and human populations worldwide.

Helsinki One Health, together with its key partners within and outside academia, is committed to excellence in research with the goal of making University of Helsinki one of the top One Health universities in the world. The key measures include professorships shared between faculties and institutes, joint seminars and workshops, international networking – most notably via the Una Europa One Health focus area, and connecting with researchers in neighbouring strategic areas such as Sustainability and Inequality
