Open postdoc positions in Urban Studies

The University of Helsinki and Aalto University open three positions for postdoctoral researchers as part of a joint multidisciplinary collaboration initiative coordinated by Urbaria.

Helsinki Institute of Urban and Regional Studies is seeking THREE talented and highly motivated postdoctoral researchers in urban studies. Applications are invited to both universities and the applications will be evaluated by a joint selection committee.  

The postdoctoral researchers will benefit from a novel research environment that emphasizes scientific rigor, collaboration with cities, and the pursuit of excellence in science and teaching. The researchers will work closely with the University of Helsinki, Aalto University and the cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa. The postdoctoral researchers' main duties will include research and scholarly publishing in the respective fields. In addition, they are expected to teach in the Master’s Programme in Urban Studies & Planning (USP). The researchers will play a key role in developing the educational offerings of the USP programme. They will:

  1. Contribute to programme delivery and continuous course and programme improvement
  2. Develop or identify urban studies-related content and materials for courses
  3. Develop, implement, and support extracurricular activities, including symposia and seminars

Having these new experts close to the Master’s Programme will provide a unique working environment for the researchers but also for the USP students and staff. It is a great addition to our urban research in the heart of a changing and developing capital region!
