18 initiatives received funding as a part of the HELSUS autumn 2020 funding call as seed funding, funding for international research collaboration, and as funding for societal impact

The Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science HELSUS is a cross-faculty unit at the University of Helsinki with the goal to promote the sustainability transition in the society through interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research and education. Members of the HELSUS are the Faculties of Agriculture and Forestry, Arts, Biological and Environmental Sciences, Educational Sciences, Law, Science and Social Sciences.

To enhance the development of sustainability science research at the University of Helsinki, HELSUS grants funding to researchers at the University of Helsinki. HELSUS funding also aims to increase the amount of external research funding for sustainability research, to promote international research collaboration, and to make societal impacts that enhance sustainability.

In autumn 2020, a total of over EUR 360 000 of funding was granted in three categories: seed funding, research collaboration funding, and societal impact funding. Eighteen different initiatives from all seven faculties received funding in the call.
