As a part of a symposium "Assessing the EU Common Fisheries Policy: Stepping Up Efforts towards Sustainability" held in Brussels Wednesday September 12, professor Sakari Kuikka will give a talk titled "A 16 years experiences in STECF: how the advice could be improved?". The presentation first evaluate how well current advice by the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries fulfills the aims defined in legislation, and thereafter describes a new interdisciplinary approach to advisory work of EU. Also the question who should pay the advice will be discussed.
