During the spring, two articles written at the Ruralia Institute have been published in the Journal of Rural Studies.

The Ruralia Institute has been working hard again. During the spring of 2020, two articles have been published in the Journal of Rural Studies.

The first article discusses the impact of farmers ’entrepreneurship on protein crop cultivation. The article has been written by Hannele Suvanto, a doctoral student at the Ruralia Institute, and Merja Lähdesmäki, a senior researcher, together with Jarkko Niemi, a research professor at the Natural Resources Center (Luke). Entrepreneurial identity and farmers' protein crop cultivation choices -article was born in Produce Protein -project.

Good workers, good firms? Rural SMEs legitimising immigrant workforce article deals with how rural entrepreneurs themselves justify the employment of immigrants. The study examined the recruitment process of rural immigrants from the perspective of legitimacy research. The authors of the article have been Timo Suutari, Project Manager of the Ruralia Institute, and Merja Lähdesmäki, Senior Researcher.
