Two group members attended PHREEQC-course in Amsterdam NL

Tony Appelo, an expert on hydrogeochemical transport modeling, organized a course about the use of PHREEQC for modeling practical hydrogeochemical problems. Two group members, PhD students Satu Meriläinen and Valtteri Suorsa, attended the course in Amsterdam NL 12 - 16 March 2018.

Group members Satu Meriläinen and Valtteri Suorsa attended PHREEQC-course in Amsterdam NL 12 - 16  March 2018. The course gives insights into the geochemical modelling related to transport and speciation. The course consists of lectures and hand and computer exercises. For example, the exercises and examples included modeling of laboratory experiments, such as determination of exchangeable cations, the calculation of the dissolution of CO2-gas and gas-mixtures at high pressures with the Peng-Robinson equation of state, inverse modeling and modelling of kinetic reactions. Dr. Appelo organizes the course regularly. More information about the course is available from http://www.hydrochemistry.eu/course.html.
