MetaStem invested in a shared Metabolomics Platform that has now been set up on the Viikki Campus in Biocenter 2. The LC-MS Q Exactive Focus Hybrid Quadrupole-Orbitrap Mass Spectrometer with UltiMateTM 3000 RSLCnano instrumentation, from now on known as Orbi-Wan, will be used for targeted metabolomics projects for all four MetaStem groups. Postdoctoral researcher Anni Viheriäranta and technician Juhana Juutila from the Hietakangas lab are in charge of running MetaStem Metabolomics. On November 30th Anni organized a work shop to teach us all the basics of metabolomics, experiment setup and data analysis. After the work shop we had the official Grand Opening to celebrate that Orbi-Wan is now up and running.
