For many cultures there is a seminal myth that explains the foundation of its people and where they come from.
For the Guajajara people this is also true, and its tale has been told orally for many generations until they decided to immortalize it by transforming it into an animation film called “The enchanted celebration”. This short movie dips into the imagination of one of Brazilian most numerous Indigenous Peoples, who live at the eastern margin of the Amazon region. Narrated by Tamuiz Vicente, one of Guajajara’s storytellers, this tale revives how the encounter of a shaman with a magical creature would change everything for a whole community from that moment on.
Although it is narrated in Portuguese, to register Indigenous Peoples culture in all its forms is a way to show respect for the endangered biocultural diversity that has evolved for many centuries, and, to guarantee that it still has chances of survival in this world that is getting more and more homogenous.

Muitas culturas possuem um mito original que conta como um povo se formou e de onde ele vem.
Isto também é verdade para o povo Guajajara e esta história que foi transmitida oralmente por diversas gerações acabou por ser imortalizada em uma animação intitulada “A festa dos encantados”. Este curta mergulha profundamente na imaginação deste povo indígena que é um dos mais numerosos do Brasil, e que vive na margem leste da região Amazônica. Narrado por Tamuiz Vicente, um dos contadores de história, este conto revive como o encontro de um pajé e de seu irmão com uma criatura mágica transformaria a realidade de toda uma comunidade.
Ainda que o vídeo tenha sido concebido em português, registrar a cultura dos povos indígenas em suas mais diversas formas é uma maneira de demonstrar respeito por esta diversidade biocultural que se encontra ameaçada, assim como é um modo de garantir que essas expressões culturais se mantenham vivas em um mundo cada dia mais homogêneo.
