Mechanisms of clause linking: Theoretical and typological perspectives

Clause linking, or the ability to combine multiple predications into one grammatically complex whole, is an essential aspect of mature and efficient language use and has been studied widely from both a typological and a (first or foreign) language acquisition perspective. In this context, the research groups CLIN / Multi-L (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium) and CoCoLaC (University of Helsinki, Finland) co-organize a one-day symposium called Mechanisms of clause linking: Theoretical and typological perspectives.
It wishes to unite research from both strands by focusing on different mechanisms of clause linking in a variety of target languages, whether from an acquisitional point of view or not. This will, hopefully, allow junior as well as senior researchers to share their methods and findings, and possibly provide an interesting contrastive view of clause linking across a wide span of languages. The plenary speaker will be prof. dr. Georges Daniel Véronique from the Université Aix-Marseille (France).
