"Chunks and chunking": symposium at the AILA 2021

Anna Mauranen and Alice Blumenthal-Dramé held a symposium on chunking at the last day of AILA Congress organised online.

This one-day symposium explored questions around the chunking process in online language comprehension from cognitive, psycholinguistic and applied linguistic perspectives. After an inspiring invited talk by Susan Hunston, we heard talks from Lars MeyerGeorgeta Cislaru, Birgit Füreder, Svenja Wagner, Sijing Fu, Katja Mäntylä and Joo Hyun Lee.

CLUMP project members have also presented the results of their work:

Svetlana Vetchinnikova talked about individual differences in chunk boundary perception, Alena Konina - about the role of pauses in chunking, and Aleksandra Dobrego - about chunk sizes across different languages
