Post-doctoral fellows Dr. Irene Ylivinkka (Helsinki, Finland) and Dr. Hector Monzo (Auckland, New Zealand) have joined the Laakkonen Lab. in February. Welcome guys!
Dr. Ylinvikka will develop new ex vivo techniques allowing the follow-up of sprouting endothelial cells and the identification of key molecular markers. Dr. Monzo will focus his research on the isolation and engineering of extracellular vesicles from patient-derived tumor cells.

Our laboratory is focusing on identification of metastasis/invasion associated molecules using phage display technology and two dimensional gel electrophoresis from three different cancer-related models:
cultured metastatic vs. non-metastatic human breast cancer cells
primary human leukemic stem cells and human glioblastoma models.
