The strong commitment from schools to improve services inspires Professor Joseph Gagnon.

What are your research topics?

My research focuses on the education and rehabilitation of youth with problems related to learning, behaviour and mental health who are at risk or have been placed in exclusionary classes, schools and facilities.

Where and how does the topic of your research have an impact?

To fully become an inclusive educational system and society, we need to identify and provide the forms of support needed by youth who are excluded from typical educational settings.

What is particularly inspiring in your field right now?

There is a strong commitment from schools, reform schools and prisons to build on their strengths and improve academic, behavioural and mental health services for youth.
