Moving up - Educational sciences ranked 22nd in the 2021 QS World University Rankings

Educational sciences at the University of Helsinki placed 22nd in the recent QS World University Subject Rankings for 2021, climbing one place from 2020.

The Dean Johanna Mäkelä and Mirjam Kalland, vice-dean for research affairs,  are very happy about this year's success in QS Rankings. The 22nd place is a pleasing indication of the Faculty’s excellent international reputation and high-quality and high-impact research.

Among European universities the University of Helsinki was ranked fourth right after the universities of London, Oxford and Cambridge in the same place than the University of Edinburgh, and was the leading university in the Nordic countries.

The QS ranking is based on four separately scored areas: academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper and the h-index. These factors are weighted in the overall assessment by subject-specific criteria.
