Abstract:

Terahertz tomography is an imaging modality that is used mainly in
nondestructive testing to reconstruct the complex refractive index of an
object.
Magnetic particle imaging, on the other hand, is a novel technique that
is used in medical imaging. Here, magnetic nanoparticles are injected
into the blood stream. Their response to external applied magnetic
fields is measured and the concentration of the particles is
reconstructed to gain information on, e.g., the blood stream.
Mathematically, these imaging modalities require the solution of inverse
problems that can be treated as parameter identification problems, which
will be discussed in the talk.
