During his UNESCO Chair Professorship, Arto Kallioniemi is keen to promote the building of peace in the world and intercultural dialogue through educating new teachers and other academics who have a deep awareness of questions related to values, dialogue and human rights in education. The Chair also increases social justice by educating representatives of the new generation who have a high understanding of equitable and sustainable development. In addition, the Chair promotes equality between genders by making gender issues visible.
As an UNESCO Professor, Arto Kallioniemi will promote the work of the organization with the tools provided by the university. This includes networking with other actors in the field, leading discussions at international seminars and conferences and participating in various research collaboration to name but a few.
