Europaeum

The Europaeum is a network of Europe’s leading universities, founded in 1992 by the University of Oxford. It is a “university without walls” which brings together students from different disciplines, cultures and countries to discuss European issues.

Europaeum’s mission is to create a morally aware cadre of young people who have developed professional skills and the moral qualities to lead, learned how to work collaboratively and who are committed to shaping the future of Europe for the better.

In recent years, the Europaeum has structured its activities around three themes in particular: European history and culture, European policy-making and European liberal democracy & citizen engagement.

The Centre for European Studies functions as the local Europaeum contact point at the University of Helsinki.

Other Europaeum activities

Europaeum universities offer three Europaeum joint master’s degrees. More information about the joint degrees is available on the Europaeum website. The University of Helsinki is currently not participating in the joint degree programmes.

The Europaeum supports a small number of exchanges every year, with the generous help and cooperation of selected member universities and corporate donors. Currently, these opportunities exist for students from Geneva, Helsinki, Oxford and Prague. More information
