Structural seismology studies and regional earthquake research of Institute of Seismology serve geophysical as well as geological fundamental research in the Fennoscandian Shield. Institute of Seismology has been mandated to carry out authorized duties related to seismic monitoring as regards to rescue service and nuclear test monitoring that is based on international contracts.
One of the tasks of the Institute of Seismology is to publish seismic bulletins on seismic events in Finland and the analysis of these events. The Institute of Seismology publishes three types of seismic bulletins.
