Environmental Chamber operating temperature

The LSM 880 has a full environmental chamber for imaging live cells. While the chamber and microscope are heating up or cooling down the light path distances are constantly changing. Because of this it is not recommended to image while the chamber temperature is changing.

To keep the chamber at a steady temperature, it should be either heated to (+37 degrees Celsius) or at room temperature for the whole day.

The first reservation created for a given day determines the temperature of the system.

Mark the desired temperature in the "Description" field of the reservation on Scheduler. Do this even if you're not the first user to reserve the microscope. The first user of the day should turn on the heating if the system is reserved for +37.

The heating is equipped with a timer, so it can be set to turn on before the start of your reservation. It will take at least 1 h for the heating to stabilize the temperature and at least two hours for it to cool down to room temperature.

NB! If you are imaging fixed cells, you can do the imaging at +37 too.
