Our policies

Acknowledgement in publications

When publishing any material arising from work carried out at the Center for X-ray Spectroscopy, do not forget to acknowledge us. To fullfil this obligation, the following acknowledgment statement is to be used in all cases:

"We acknowledge the Center for X-ray Spectroscopy for providing experiment time and support with the [xxxx] spectrometer under Proposal number [xxxx]."

Additionally, you are required to give appropriate acknowledgment of individual personnel that help you during the experiment.

Finally, for research output statistic purpose, we also kindly ask you to send us references of all publications related to experiments carried out at the Center for X-ray Spectroscopy as soon as possible after publication date. Please use our publication submission form.

Our code of conduct

By using our facilities, you will need to adhere to the Kumpula campus code of conduct as well as the ethical principles of science as laid out in the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity.

The Center for X-ray Spectroscopy has implemented a data policy, which is based on the PaNdata Data Policy. The metadata will be collected automatically and stored together with the data. We adhere to open data and open publication policy. The experimental team will have sole access to the data during a three-year embargo period, renewable if necessary. After the embargo, the data will be released under a CC-BY-4 licence with open access to anyone who has registered with the data portal. When applying for beamtime it is necessary to accept the Data Policy. Accepting the policy does not mean that all spectrometers are yet able to implement the policy.
